Once upon a time, in a land across the ocean, I was good at posting to my blog. Then I moved to Britain.
I recently re-read all these old blog posts. Banal ramblings my family thought were interesting: snarky thoughts about the $5 shoe store in Dallas, or my poor rationalisation for eating Micky D’s in France. Fun to write, slightly interesting, but very random. Time to move on, I say.
In three weeks time, I’m ditching my job as a university flack for a gig as an online hack at Media Wales. This venture back into my native journalistic habitat excites me. The news scene in Cardiff is turning on its head right now. Literally, right now. The yourCardiff site debuted today, while the Guardian officially began tweeting from the capital of Wales. “Hyperlocal” is the buzz word of the moment. Which is awfully nice for my own hyperlocal blog, Llandaff News, and its Twittering tweets about the area.
As a journalist, etc., what you can expect on joniayn.com is just that: mostly journalism with a little bit of etcetera. Etcetera in my world equals driving lessons, deep-fried turkeys, Spanish beaches and Skyping my family in America. (The really random I will try to keep to 140 characters @joniayn.)
